Meanwhile in bike racing... The dudes really go at it in this one, eh? A fun finish to this stage 4 of the Tour of Qatar. It was not exactly the routine march to the bunch sprint we sometimes see in the early season. Yay bikes!
I love how Fabian attacks, and then just keeps sustaining the attack despite the fact that riders start making it back
Makes me chuckle at the bobble-headed skinny boys of summer that attack for 10 seconds up a mountain, then start looking around to see who’s left, and then inevitably veer to the far side of the road and wait for the others.
wanted to see this race live more than any!I am already planning morning brunch with friends to watch.Child and grandchildren will have to do Easter on Sat.!
Bad cycling Gramma!
great racing
ant1 - February 8, 2012
thanks for the vid
and for not giving the result away
papyrus - February 8, 2012
Real racing, in February
I don’t mind that at all.
TheFigurehead - February 8, 2012
that little video feels the teaser reel for the season to come
fun stuff!
paisley - February 8, 2012
Nice reminder
of why I so love the next few months.
Chris Fontecchio - February 8, 2012
Dude
you need a reminder?!
tgsgirl - February 8, 2012
I cannot fucking wait for cobbles!
Is there ANYTHING better than watching Tom and Fabian race their bikes? (And if you say there is, just know that I hate you.)
Had the sound off at work, who was the guy from OmegaPharmaQuickstepLottoBelisolMapei killing himself at the front over that last 2K?
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
nope, nothing better
paisley - February 8, 2012
+56
tgsgirl - February 8, 2012
Nicolas Maes
Jens - February 8, 2012
I already hated you
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
Is that an answer to the first
or the second question?
tgsgirl - February 8, 2012
It should be obvious to everyone but Drew
Jens - February 8, 2012
Jens knows
(shakes fist)
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
That was fun!!!
M-SR is what I am looking forwad to seeing.
Ice
Ice Nine - February 8, 2012
- What is Flecha doing?
° I have no idea what Flecha is doing.
Ah, familiar words.
The Sporza recap is fun too, if only to hear Farrar yell at a truck to give him a better draft. GO! GOOOOOO!
tgsgirl - February 8, 2012
I guess one would get a little testy riding in a straight line for 3 hours in a cross wind
Still makes me laugh though.
Ever notice how Fabian always knows when Boonen drops to the back and then immediately attacks?
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
Poor bloke
I imagine there’s a lotta cash in the overall title that he just got flatted out of today?
Chris Fontecchio - February 8, 2012
He won his weight in camels for being the most aggressive rider
So he’s got that going for him……..which is nice.
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
All these "win your weight in...." prizes in cycling is basically just to fuck with the riders, right?
“Great. I’ve been eating nothing but boiled lettuce for eight months and now it comes back to bite me in the ass”
Jens - February 8, 2012
If you win a camel
There is a better than average chance of it biting you in the ass. Horrible creatures, but then, look at their prospects. I’d be pissy.
EdredonBrowny - February 8, 2012
Well, if I was serious and he did win his weight in camels
It would be a 150lb camel. Which I suppose he could then sell to the circus and still make a bit of $………..
I like when they win huge wheels of cheese, sausages, or beer in aquarium sized glasses. All other prizes, short of cash, stink.
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
My parents were offered a 1000 camels for me when we were in Jerusalem
They said no.
Albertina - February 8, 2012 via iPhone app
Smart people.
You’re worth 1200, easy.
majope - February 8, 2012
Its a bit dated but Boonen only won ~40k (euros) from winning the Doha GP, 4 stages and the overall
Once it is all split up, he’d probably see 3-4k…if he ever got the money
Vlaanderen90 - February 8, 2012
Nice sig.
tedvdw - February 8, 2012
I Think on The Eurosport replay, you can hear him drop an F# as he crosses the line too!
That’s the problem with races where there isn’t a huge crowd cheering
professorfate - February 8, 2012
You sure it was an F-Sharp?
You must have perfect pitch.
jsallee00 - February 8, 2012

PopUp Rolen - February 8, 2012
Sometimes he'll look around for one of two reasons
1) is anybody behind me? No – must continue to ride hard
2) if there is somebody behind me, are they willing to help? No – must rider harder
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
+1
I like how he looked back to see if Blythe would pull through- as if the guy wasn’t already doing everything he could just to hang on
jsallee00 - February 8, 2012
If Fabian's ass wasn't so big
there’s no way that Blythe would have managed to hold Cance’s wheel
TheFigurehead - February 8, 2012
Somehow, I think
that by this point in his career, Cancellara KNOWS what he’s gonna see when he looks over for the guy behind him to pull.
R Mc - February 8, 2012
Yeah - he kind of makes the stink face, doesn't he?
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
It's more to tell the desperate hanger on behind
“Are you ready for round two?”
Jens - February 8, 2012
Also notice the guy behind almost never makes eye contact
(I’ll just pretend I didn’t see him. That should work)
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
LMAO
Ed K - February 8, 2012
Perfect
mr. rogers - February 8, 2012
okay, statesiders who have directv, and thus nbcsports, the schedule has been updated for FULL LIVE coverage of RVV and PR
umwolverine - February 8, 2012
I have Comcast but that has NBC Sports
HOORAY!
Drew Davis - February 8, 2012
(smacks forehead) got it confused with universal sports
umwolverine - February 8, 2012
so who has the coverage
universal or nbc sports?
paisley - February 8, 2012
NBC Sports.
majope - February 8, 2012
thanks
I figured that but was hoping for universal
paisley - February 8, 2012
Me too!
Just saw that—very cool!
majope - February 8, 2012
(thumbs up-big smile)
