[Update] And we're done. Deadline is passed. I hand-submitted a few complete teams but basically everyone except Jimbo seems to have figured it out on their own. Final tally is 242 teams. Nice job all!
Just a friendly reminder, the submission deadline is tomorrow TONIGHT at 9pm Pacific for submitting your women's team. That's in four hours. [It's Friday for your men's team.] The urgency is the Women's Tour of New Zealand, the first event of the FSA DS Calendar, which starts on Wednesday, but because of the time difference that nobody understands, it means we have to have our teams in Tuesday night.

I did the deed at lunchtime. I feel a tad numb.
3rd last year, disaster this year. I can see it.
Albertina - February 20, 2012
My kids
just got their teams in.
Chris Fontecchio - February 20, 2012
Also, a word about signing up family members
The basic rule is one team per player. If other people in your family are actually playing, then yes, by all means, have them sign in and play. My kids watch a lot of cycling, can name a number of riders, and dabble in kids racing (or else no dinner). So they have teams. My wife, on the other hand, gets to sleep in on race days. So she’s not playing.
Use your judgment. We track multiple teams from a single IP address, so you might get an email from me confirming that you have only one team.
Chris Fontecchio - February 20, 2012
Untempered Schism, Dalek Cav, and I are indeed all different people.
The competition in our household league is bloody, although the rumor that I used to have two children before one picked Kittel last year is absolutely false.
majope - February 22, 2012
WhooooooWa ! - Done Deal - 40_Chains in the runnin'
LooseHorse - February 20, 2012
Mine's in, mainly to prevent further futile tinkering.
I did check the TNZ startlist afterwards & was mightily relieved to find I had actually picked one or two riders racing. Unlike last year, when I think my season started in about June.
civetta - February 20, 2012
Auto-submissions, as per last year?
Or not?
Ed K - February 20, 2012
Ah
good Q. Superted?
Chris Fontecchio - February 20, 2012
I have no strong opinion either way
but auto-submit is very easy, like 10 seconds work. Of course, manual submit is even easier, for me.
tedvdw - February 20, 2012
I'd actually been assuming that it'd get automatically submitted in whatever form it was in...
…as long as it was valid.
Do you actually want me to actively decide that ‘this is good?’ I mean, I can do that, but… bad faith is so much more comforting.
Ed K - February 20, 2012
We had a long discussion about it last year and probably the year before as well
but the intended functionality of the website has always been: NO SUBMIT = NO PLAY. Like I said, it’s easy to auto-submit valid but not submitted teams, we just decided an active click was justified to guarantee entry.
tedvdw - February 21, 2012
Gotcha.
I remember it was done last year and wanted to clarify.
The rest was just playful.
Ed K - February 21, 2012
After a solid 4th place las year. I've stocked up my team with even more Canadians than last season..
I’ve even changed my team name to reflect that. But, like Albertina, I can’t help but wonder if I can repeat my rookie season. Sophomore Slump or Podium Performance?
ykgday - February 20, 2012
It happened to me with the men's.
I was 2nd two years ago and last year I was totally embarrassing!
Albertina - February 20, 2012 via iPhone app
Done.
Once again the team is without Boss Vos. Target this year is top 30.
Uphill - February 20, 2012
Lady Moos are final
Willj - February 20, 2012
If by "final" you mean "finished" I'm sure you're correct.
majope - February 20, 2012
The German Express is in...! No M.V here either...
Rookie season with the girls lets see how I do.
pablo777 - February 20, 2012
a rookie won last year's.
ant1 - February 20, 2012
Rookie season men and women for me
So I reckon when my teams totally fail I have an excuse. No Vos for me either. I thought that it might be more fun to have more middle rankers and see how they did. As a tactic I’m not sure it’s going to be that successful.
Retancourt - February 20, 2012
Ah, so I wasn't the only one to pass on Vos?
Nice to know.
Aly Edge - February 20, 2012
No excuses allowed......that's cycling
LooseHorse - February 20, 2012
Going Vos-less worked last year
I finished second without Marianne, and I don’t think the winning team had her either.
I’ve taken her this year. Last year was sheer blind luck and I’d rather take the (hopefully) guaranteed points this time round.
mpw5 - February 20, 2012
Um
it was the first year of the game. For the women anyway
Chris Fontecchio - February 20, 2012
My Biker Chicks are submitted ;\
Aly Edge - February 20, 2012
Done!
tgsgirl - February 20, 2012
Women's team submitted
Now I just need to cut my men’s team down from 30 to 25…
CelticPride - February 20, 2012
I had no idea what I was doing, but thought that by taking part I'd learn a little more
As it stands, many of my team were unfortunately simply based on the odd photo I’ve seen when I’ve thought they were attractive. One or two others I actually have heard of/noticed in a rare women’s race I’ve seen, or were just picked based as much on their nation as anything else.
I was going to pick Liz Hatch too, but I guess she isn’t a pro any more.
ike2112 - February 20, 2012
Yep, Hatch is retired
tedvdw - February 21, 2012
As proven by this twitter exchange with Bridie O'Donnell today
LH – Have a wireless SRM system for sale. @ me if interested :)
BOD – @Liz_Hatch surely you need it for la Fondo!!
LH _ @Bridie_OD Hell no! This is for enjoyment, not numbers. ;)
BOD – @Liz_Hatch shiiiiiit. Fun while riding? Now we know you’re retired! :)
Jens - February 21, 2012
Vos isn't bad-looking ;\
Though these girls have obviously all got great figures. I can only think of one cyclist off the top of my head I would actively consider _un_attractive, and she’s a serious horseface (name withheld to protect the innocent).
Aly Edge - February 21, 2012
I don't care what price you put on Evie... she was going to be on my team.
Lululemonheads will hit the road (and possibly the candy stores) soon.
sminer - February 20, 2012
Incidentally, the Unicorns are now prepared to help you with any last-minute changes to your women's team.
majope - February 21, 2012
Stupid over-hyped ponies
Jens - February 21, 2012
201 teams submitted so far, 30 in progress!
More than twice as many as last year.
majope - February 21, 2012
Seriously impressive that doubling of numbers.
civetta - February 21, 2012
Impressive increase but not quite double
I’m afraid majope left the math up to the Black Unicorn. We had 134 players last year and as of right now there are 215 submitted teams .Still super.
Jens - February 21, 2012
Damn. I remembered 114 teams.
The other 20 must have been Will’s.
majope - February 21, 2012
Superted >> giant spreadsheet
No offense Jens.
Chris Fontecchio - February 21, 2012
Another reason perhaps: I was completely ignorant about women's cycling last year. This year I am only mostly ignorant...
That massive improvement caused me to sign up this year and give WFSADS a shot.
By 2020, I will kick ass!
JustJoshinYa - February 21, 2012
+1
I’m sure the lack of giant spreadsheet has a lot to do with it (even if it makes it harder to tinker with your team under cover of pretending to “work”) but I also think the huge increase in coverage of women’s racing last year has been really helpful.
The more I know, however, the worse my teams seem to get.
civetta - February 22, 2012
225 and counting
Chris Fontecchio - February 21, 2012
My team is submitted
Sad teamname and all.

TheFigurehead - February 21, 2012
It was very easy to spot.... ;-)
civetta - February 21, 2012
Ha!
Ed K - February 21, 2012
I still am dithering over Vos/non-Vos! Aaargh!
Sarah Connolly - February 21, 2012
that must mean she was priced right.
ant1 - February 21, 2012
Enfin, 3 hours later …
tedvdw - February 21, 2012
How do you DO that?
Sarah Connolly - February 21, 2012
What, the flags?
It’s on the “My Team” page if you haven’t submitted yet. There a text box with code that you need to copy there and paste here. Easy :)
tedvdw - February 21, 2012
I didn't realize until I did submit, so now I'm sad that I can't do it.
Ed K - February 21, 2012
Chamois Full of Bliss has returned!
Now with even more Bliss!
majope - February 21, 2012
yay :)
Jen See - February 21, 2012
You must have Evie this year then.
sminer - February 21, 2012
Hello Kittel
Another rookie signing up for the ride on the no-Vos bandwagon.
koshatnik - February 21, 2012
Who's team name is, "Arndt you mean" ?
I like that name…
And, to “I really suck at this” → me too.
JustJoshinYa - February 21, 2012
I'm done! Tried for a miz of nationalities and riders I dont know anything about
So Long Marianne
RollinRollinRolland - February 21, 2012
Ha!
I’m all in for Vos.
Chris Fontecchio - February 21, 2012
Oh she's in my side
Its more or less what the peloton will be singing when she goes up the road and brings the points home for my team! :D
RollinRollinRolland - February 21, 2012
I Vos'd.
And I Vos’d without shame.
downdog - February 21, 2012
Likewise
She got me to to 11th last year.
Drongo - February 22, 2012
Lionesses of Flanders
I decided to pick the best riders from Belgium and will use this team to learn more about international women’s cycling. My apologies to the other team with the Lionesses name. I thought I was so original….
emailcone - February 21, 2012 via mobile
Ohh, we can compare teams now
Fun! Though it will probably be more fun with the dudez.
Aly Edge - February 22, 2012
Wow
Of all the teams listed as ‘similar’ to mine, only one has the same top rider (Johansson). Uhhhh….did I miss a memo or something? Because only about half of the others have Vos. I thought for sure it’d be one-or-the-other for nearly every team.
Aly Edge - February 22, 2012
I'm just worried that I have only 2 of the same riders as Pigeons
That’s a bad sign, because she knows more about women’s cycling than I ever will.
Drongo - February 22, 2012
She's a sap though, she likes all the riders
and then she just draws names from a hat.
Jens - February 22, 2012
Seems strawdog has a similar side to me
A man of good taste :D
RollinRollinRolland - February 22, 2012
My deeply researched strategy this year was to pick well funded teams...
Vos + teammates (resulting in PFP falling into my team entirely by accident)
Stevens + teammates (resulting in Emilia F falling into my team entirely by accident)
Kupfernagel + 3 mysterious Russians who got a lot of points last year
straw dog - February 22, 2012
...Aaaaand
we’re out. 242 teams.
Chris Fontecchio - February 22, 2012
Hey, you squeezed in 5 extra teams? Magic!
Jens - February 22, 2012
OK, now to load up my team with riders costing > 20
in the no-limits admin section.
tedvdw - February 22, 2012
WILL!
Thanks to something unclear that happened far away in a land inhabited by Hobbits, your Spotty Cows have taken a 10-point lead over my Bliss girls!
Enjoy it—it’s obviously the last time they’ll be in the lead. Off to consult a unicorn or two…
majope - February 22, 2012
The sideeffect of racing in the southern hemisphere
All results are reversed compared to normal northern hemisphere results
Jens - February 22, 2012
Whew, I knew there had to be a logical explanation.
Thanks!
