I wish every race had beer on the podium. Thüringen was fantastic for the really dark German beer, & riders with great facial expressions (& Arndt drinking everyone else’s beer!)
and won everything else. Today was close for a moment when she was in real pain after a crash and dropped back to the Wyman group, 15 seconds behind VDB.
on my forearms, from failing to do a clean ‘clean’, & on my inner thighs, from failing to appreciate the width of the stance needed (I typed that 5 different ways, & this is the least rude-sounding description!)
The best at my gym was a couple of years ago when they were working on the inside pool
they opened the outside pool in late fall to make up for it. Lovely swimming in the pre-dawn darkness, when the air was cold enough that mist was rising from the water.
So I saw the USA gets to send 5 men to the Worlds, as they're 5th best nation
How many does Belgium get to send? It always seems unfair, like with Track Olympics rules, that you can be in the top 10 in the world, but not able to ride Worlds, cos your country only has limited places….
“Bad legs, blockage in my back. This isn’t good, I never felt well. DNF was the smart thing to do. Now I’m afraid for my world cup selection, this isn’t good. Every year there’s a French world cup race, and they’re always very fast, but this is nothing for me”
Pauwels from one extreme to another
He’s been leading the front group without a break since the first lap
and on a course where drafting must be factor, no?
Hoogerheide is in Holland, but it’s so close to Belgium that you won’t know you’re in Dutchie land. It’s also really really close to the Kalmthout-Essen area, so Aernouts, Meeusen, Styby, Pauwels and Sanne Cant will feel right at home. There’s not too much height difference – it is les pays bas you know – just one bridge and one steep climb. It’s fast too, the riders only have to get off the bike twice.
Last three winners elite men: Niels Albert (2011), Niels Albert (2010) and Lars Boom (2009)

“A little disappointing. I missed by start cause I picked the wrong tyres. I changed my wheels and I got stuck around 20-25s but if they really race hard in the front you can’t catch up. At the end I got fourth cause I was best in that chase group. I went hard for one lap and I didn’t get any closer, so I stuck with the chase group. No one in that group was good enough to help me. I missed my start and that was my own fault. The World Cup isn’t gone yet, and I’m not giving up.”
“World cup selections… I leave that to the coach. I did ok, but in the end I made to many mistakes cause I had the wrong tyres. I needed Rhinos in the end. I gambled, but… Well, overall I’m content.”
“Today I checked out the others, especially Bart Aernouts and Sven VT, but something must’ve happened to them and they fell back. So I was safe compared to them. But then I got stuck in a big group and if you got knocked back some it was hard to keep up, but I did well I think. I don’t think the coach expected me to win here, and I still had something left in the end, so…”
I can recommend Overplay. I use a Mac, seamless interface. From the U.S., service has been excellent to all of Europe. I think it’s a U.K.-based company, so I assume they will be equally good from there. Definitely worth paying the small amount for a non-free service.
And yes, I’m deliberately trying to hide this in a comment at the end of a CX race, or 1000 PdCers might overload their Belgian servers in a couple of months….
They're 5 minutes early

Women now
broerie - January 15, 2012
I just tweeted wondering if anyone was around for this. Thank you!
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
Rough night
took me a bit to wake up ;)
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
zatte doos!
broerie - January 15, 2012
I'm going to give this a try, be gentle with me
And if I start to snore, just give me slap.
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
We'll ease you in with a very straightforward,
very fast, very non-crazy race. Welcome!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
SLAP
just a test
broerie - January 15, 2012
This is going to be a faaaaaaaaast race
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
women are super fast
Is that Vos v DvbB in the lead?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Double crash and the foxy lady in pain
broerie - January 15, 2012
14" behind now
broerie - January 15, 2012
Just like yesterday
Peeters beat Nys in the sprint in Maldegem
broerie - January 15, 2012
Did you see this Pigeons?
His first win of the season!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Noooooo! Missed it!
Did he do the baby-salute on the podium again?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I haven't seen any pics with the baby though, only with Malheur beer
broerie - January 15, 2012
There are some way funnier pictures
where he’s choking on the beer :D
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Got it!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Thats how I look after 7-8 beers
Uphill - January 15, 2012
That's great!
I wish every race had beer on the podium. Thüringen was fantastic for the really dark German beer, & riders with great facial expressions (& Arndt drinking everyone else’s beer!)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Malheur is REALLY strong! Ahahahaha.
Albertina - January 16, 2012
That's pretty damn cool!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
The beer's not bad either
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
The hat on the other hand.....
oh Rob, sort it out!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Oh, I love the Telenet hats
so ridiculous :D
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I think they should all sport Big Pink Hats like Styby
in telenet colours…
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Niels Albert op 2'05"
saving for the big one?
singhstax - January 15, 2012
I asked myself the same question
That’s not how he usuallly does it, normally he’s one of the guys who goes for it everywhere
broerie - January 15, 2012
He got away with Nys and Peeters about halfway into the race
but got dropped by them near the end, said the Belga report
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Read that too, but losing minutes seems so much
broerie - January 15, 2012
Probably saw he wasn't going to win
and then said ‘fuck it, it’s only kleicross’
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
aussies attention
australian crosser in Lievin
http://ratracingcx.blogspot.com/
geert - January 15, 2012
Helen in 3rd, Sanne Cant 4th?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Bike trouble for VDB!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
crash
geert - January 15, 2012
Damn, Daphny's bike has broken?
Oh, from that Vos crash? Is Vos ok?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(Only André Meganck knows)
broerie - January 15, 2012
Has Lance won yet?
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
Vos, vdb
Mani, then Wyman, then Cant, then everyone, at 3 laps to go
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Blimey, Vos made that gap back fast!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Where is Compton, & why are they talking about her?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
because she's not as good as the previous years
broerie - January 15, 2012
Oh, Helen's overtaken Caroline Mani!
I think this is the most of a women’s CX I’ve ever seen live, other than Worlds
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
BOO!
There was a sandpit, and the UCI told the organisers to get rid off it.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
-1
broerie - January 15, 2012
I saw that on twitter the other day - uh?
I was about to ask “do they know NOTHING about CX???” and then realised what I was saying!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
It's in the rules
“No man-made obstacles, except barriers” or words to that effect.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
that was last year
I thought they left that phrase out in this years’ version
broerie - January 15, 2012
Then they shouldn't have races where there are no natural obstacles
Hmpf
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
(I do like the way Daphny's plaits swing as she rides)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
+1
broerie - January 15, 2012
Mine do this too. It makes me grin :)
Albertina - January 16, 2012
There can be only one
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Does Vos win everything she is in?
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
at the moment, yes
she didn’t win her 1st couple of CX races of the season, but has ridden herself into amazing form. Much like Sven Nys at the moment!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I think she got second in her very first cross
and won everything else. Today was close for a moment when she was in real pain after a crash and dropped back to the Wyman group, 15 seconds behind VDB.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
My heart was in my mouth then
Really hoping no one injures before the Worlds. But she reminded me of Nys, the way sometimes when he falls, he Hulks Out & comes back faster.
Daphny was rubbing her arm as she came in, hope she’s not injured either
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Daphny didn't look happy at the end
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Cant isn't really good at fast CX-races, is she?
broerie - January 15, 2012
No, she really isn't
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
She's not been so strong this season for some reason
but she likes them muddy/sandy/difficult
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
She was pretty good the last 2-3 weeks, but this is quite dissapointing.
broerie - January 15, 2012
She should be good at Koksijde, though
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Good for 2nd place at best ;)
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
Ha!
I’m hoping Vos & Daphny didn’t hurt themselves today – really want to see if Daphny can repeat her Koksijde win over Vos….
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Whoops, little tennis interlude here
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
me too
Good morning All
singhstax - January 15, 2012
I love Djoko
not only he’s really good, I also love his attitude on the court. He may not be as good as (the best) Federer or Nadal, but he’s great fun to watch!
broerie - January 15, 2012
and Wickmayer: best legs in tennis
broerie - January 15, 2012
Fed Express all the way for me!
The final Kim Aussie Open… final time waking up in the middle of the night for tennis?
(no, wait, US Open too. Or is she quitting after Olympics?)
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Dunno exactly, but she'll be injured again after 3 games
broerie - January 15, 2012
Bah
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Wut? Where are the bikes? And why is the mud blue?
broerie - January 15, 2012
No one's jumping that obstacle in the middle of the course
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Haha :D
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Check out Balint Hamvas' pic of Lars vdH from the u23 race
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=11119066&l=30bf98985f&id=166447390534
(surprise, mini-Lars won!)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Very cool shot!
But -1 for Lars because the tanline is visible
broerie - January 15, 2012
And what, pray, is wrong with this?
Albertina - January 16, 2012
not pro
broerie - January 16, 2012
Because the bottom of the shorts should be arranged precisely along the tan line?
Albertina - January 16, 2012 via mobile
yes

Maarten Vangramberen
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Fun lighting there!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
The Daniel Radcliffe look.
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
But without the scar
I have a Harry Potter lightning scar on the palm of my hand. Kids are always disappointed when I can’t do magic.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
That's pretty cool
(well, except for having to have the scar…)
I have a heart-shaped birthmark near my wrist, lots of people ask me if it’s a tattoo
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I'd never noticed his Boonen ears before
broerie - January 15, 2012
So Elvish heritage is common in Belgium?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
If Boonen is an elf, does that mean he is immortal?
Albertina - January 16, 2012
Thank you. He does have an elvish look about him there.
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
It will even be live on Dutch tv, apparently.
No idea why, absolutely no other sports going on atm I guess ;)
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
Isn't there a ton of winter sports?
Eurosport is full of luge/skiing/tennis (and not the Track World cup, booo!)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Why are we having a shot of Boom???
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
He won the last time they had a world cup race here, in 2008
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Pleasing the Dutch audience ;)
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
Haha, a reminder that it's not just the Dutch women & u23s who know how to win?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Gerben de Knegt won a race this year :)
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
How do you feel today, after the kettlebell class?
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
Very, very achey!
Pain in totally random places!
It was a 2.5 hour intro class to teach basic moves & stuff, so no idea how I’ll feel if I go to one of the usual classes this week! Fun, though
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
2.5 hour kettleball workout?
You da Amazon!
majope - January 15, 2012
I have some really comedy bruises
on my forearms, from failing to do a clean ‘clean’, & on my inner thighs, from failing to appreciate the width of the stance needed (I typed that 5 different ways, & this is the least rude-sounding description!)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
That's what I thought :)
After my first visit to the gym my muscles and joints were sore for three days.
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
Ha!
I’m sure exercise is meant to make you feel good!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Then I'm doing the running thing wrong.
majope - January 15, 2012
I've switched to swimming recently
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I can swim, I'm just not very good at it.
And I sooooo prefer fresh water to swimming pools. There just isn’t any here. But I will do laps from time to time at the gym.
majope - January 15, 2012
I still mourn the fabulous 50m pool I used to swim in in Leeds
where they had late-night lane swimming, with cheesy pop music on the speakers
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Ours has late night lane swimming too
Sadly enough, no cheesy pop music.
(and if you’re a bit early you can watch the waterpolo team stretch :o )
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Ha!
My local pool is really scummy, the kind where you expect to get verrucas just by looking at the tiles…
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
The best at my gym was a couple of years ago when they were working on the inside pool
they opened the outside pool in late fall to make up for it. Lovely swimming in the pre-dawn darkness, when the air was cold enough that mist was rising from the water.
majope - January 15, 2012
wow, I'm jealous!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Sadly, they fixed the indoor pool.
And it’s always too warm for this Northerner. You shouldn’t be able to feel yourself sweat in water.
majope - January 15, 2012
Yuck!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
It does
Wait until the fist endorphin rush :)
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
When does that happen??
VirtKitty - January 15, 2012
When you least expect it
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
(never)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
2017.
majope - January 15, 2012
What the ef is kettlebell?
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Big-ass weight.
majope - January 15, 2012
It's a circular weight with a handle
you swing it and do various evil things with it.
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Sounds most evil
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
A minute of silence for the president of the organising cycling club
who passed away recently
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Is that why Van der Haar said he won today "with mixed feelings"?
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
Who's the Rapha Focus guy here?
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Oh, is he the USA dude?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Yes, but which one :D
Fantastic kit, that Rapha Focus one
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
+1
broerie - January 15, 2012
Powers or Johnson
you know me & USA CX, you should be impressed I got the country right!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Powers is Rapha....Johnson is Cannondale
steph- - January 15, 2012
Thanks!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
thanks - I would have answered but thought surely they are just messing with me there.
paisley - January 15, 2012
Ha, I really don't know much about the USA men at all
I know there’s 1 I’m supposed to like more, but I can never remember which, or why
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
it's okay to like both, really
paisley - January 15, 2012
...and I shouldn't like one more than the other but...
I love me some Jeremy Powers
steph- - January 15, 2012
Johnson rides for Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
yup with Jamey Driscoll
steph- - January 15, 2012
Fieldy in his Brit kit!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Aw! Finally!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
powers ?
geert - January 15, 2012
Maybe. Or TIm Johnson?
I forgot who’s USA champ.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Jeremy Powers is US Champ
I think.
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
Thank you
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Yes, Powers won the Championship race in Verona, Wisconsin last weekend.
Ruthann - January 15, 2012
You'd know if you hadn't been colouring your hair during the race
Albertina - January 16, 2012
I was colouring my hair during the race
cause the damn live stream wouldn’t work
tgsgirl - January 16, 2012
Niels has a nice long "the camera is on me" ritual there!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
he'd better have a good start here
broerie - January 15, 2012
The 'second-rate' Belgians will be very motivated to do well
they’re fighting for a world champs spot
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Hi, everyone! Got here just in time, I see.
Go Stybar!!!
Ruthann - January 15, 2012
Ola!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Hello!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
A race for Chainel? He's moving up already.
broerie - January 15, 2012
Morning, all!
majope - January 15, 2012
Morning
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
olà
broerie - January 15, 2012
Hey there!
Are you at home, or in a hotel lobby? Did you make it out of Baltimore in one piece?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Home!
Be it ever so humble.
Our Christmas trees are still up.
majope - January 15, 2012
Nice! Keep them up all year!
(how many trees do you have? Which Barbies sit at the top of them?)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Just two--the regular one and yes, the Barbie one.
It has Barbie ornaments all over it, and an angel Barbie of some sort stuck on top.
majope - January 15, 2012
You've been watching The Wire too much
broerie - January 15, 2012
Peeters in the lead
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Ah, all is right with the world
Niels Albert terrible start, 30s behind Peeters
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
He's back in normal BKCP colours, so white and black
Sandbaggage much?
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
albert 30 secs back
geert - January 15, 2012
We had Kurt Hovelynck on our groupride this morning
as from 2012/01/01 he’s riding for Landbouwkrediet, but he was wearing the old, dark grey outfit.
broerie - January 15, 2012
I'm so jealous of you sometimes
Albertina - January 16, 2012
We rode past the Chainstay too :)
broerie - January 16, 2012
Nice! Hope you waved at it for me!
Albertina - January 16, 2012 via mobile
Doesn't Renaat ever feel useless?
Most of what he says we can see happening on our screen.
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
waiting for the Giro
broerie - January 15, 2012
Don't knock it
With David Duffield, there was rarely any connection between the two.
straw dog - January 15, 2012
+ 1
and Hugh Porter too….
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Watched RvV -93 on the trainer last night
God, he sucked.
Jens - January 15, 2012
Aaaaaaaaaall together
this is weird
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I want cross races back :(
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I was wondering. I don't remember seeing so compact a field after the first lap.
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
Ian Field namecheck!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
There's a first time for everything
broerie - January 15, 2012
No no, I've heard 'Field de Brit' on several occasions!
Albertina - January 16, 2012
Mark Cavendish FTW.
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
So I saw the USA gets to send 5 men to the Worlds, as they're 5th best nation
How many does Belgium get to send? It always seems unfair, like with Track Olympics rules, that you can be in the top 10 in the world, but not able to ride Worlds, cos your country only has limited places….
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Six for being among the best nations + one more for leading the world cup
aka, 7
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
That's just not right....
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
We'll have to leave someone like Aernouts, Peeters or Sven VT home
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
when do they know who rides?
and do the spurned boys turn up to watch??
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Don't know
sometime this week, maybe?
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Nys is pretty far back
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Waiting for his moment?
majope - January 15, 2012
Mechanical? He just pitted.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
tire problems?
geert - January 15, 2012
good morning all
what did i miss? holeshot?
gravel road - January 15, 2012
Tennis
then peloton groupe
straw dog - January 15, 2012
you missed nothing
too fast, no fun
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
This isn't a course I hope they'll return to....
What’s next week’s like?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I'm not seeing mud, either.
majope - January 15, 2012
And it's sunny--WTF, Belgium???
majope - January 15, 2012
La douce France.
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
this is France?
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
oui
broerie - January 15, 2012
Don't blame us
Friggin frogs
broerie - January 15, 2012
Oops--sorry.
You all look alike.I stand corrected.majope - January 15, 2012

ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
where's the string of onions?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(garlic)
broerie - January 15, 2012
In the UK,
the French are known as onion salesmen.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
God, I want that bread.
But I just lost the couple of pounds I put on over Christmas, and am going to be good until another 10 follows it.

Sven Nys off the bike?
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
that's bizarre. How does it all stay in the front?
Does he have a tumor I wonder.
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
lol

Uphill - January 15, 2012
Ha!
majope - January 15, 2012
We're in France :)
There’s would’ve been mud in Belgium!

This is yesterday’s race:
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Now that's some proper mud--sorry I missed it.
If I’d read the preview or something, I might have known where we were today. But I haven’t quite gotten to that point yet.
majope - January 15, 2012
Wasn't live
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Zombies?
majope - January 15, 2012
Sure, yes
Zombie CX. You crash, your legs fall off.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Adds another point of interest.
majope - January 15, 2012
Running to the pits carrying your arm
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(goes to youtube and looks for Roky Ericsson clips)
broerie - January 15, 2012
true
singhstax - January 15, 2012
Nice camera placement though. The one on the downhill where they get air.
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
morning zoe!
steph- - January 15, 2012
Hiya! How are you?
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
after watching the Niner game....I am exhausted!!...HA!
steph- - January 15, 2012
I saw your tweets. I was chuckling.
ZoeRochelle - January 15, 2012
hahahaha....I did get a bit excited
steph- - January 15, 2012
Darvell FTW
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
or maybe not
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
Nys switched from Griffo to Rhino
Bizarre they’re using Rhino’s on this course
broerie - January 15, 2012
Comments that not make sense
I haven’t seen a rhino yet, and they should be hard to miss

TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
SLAP!
broerie - January 15, 2012
Hey, I didn't snore!
TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
what they are thinking
lead group: “Nys had a mechanical…. let’s jet!”
gravel road - January 15, 2012
I'm not sure what wheel Pauwels is following
is his own shadow in front of him?
straw dog - January 15, 2012
Ha!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Crash Bart Aernouts
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
bartje crash
geert - January 15, 2012
"Stybar: wat oogt -ie mooi, wat oogt -ie frist, wat oogt -ie lekker."
Wuyts loves him some Stybar.
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
'he looks so nice, he looks so fresh, he looks so yum'
that sounds very odd in English :D
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
sounds odd in Dutch as well
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
was he licking his lips at the time?
I didn’t know Albertina provided commentary scripts
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I was going to say, this does rather sound like something I would say
(mea culpa)
Albertina - January 16, 2012
In the lead:
Pauwels, Stybar and Simunek
+10s to a lot of people
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
So, the race is dull, but the thread is making me laugh out loud over & over!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Pauwels, dude, work for yourself for once!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I am here...!
What did I miss?
pablo777 - January 15, 2012
Kpow steadily rides away
taking Sybs and Simunek with him
straw dog - January 15, 2012
It's fast
and stupidly non-crazy.
Pauwels, Stybar and Simunek are leading
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
stupid jokes, silly comments, racist clichés
and some racing
broerie - January 15, 2012
This is why I follow races here.... ;)
pablo777 - January 15, 2012
nys hulking
geert - January 15, 2012
So..... grassy crit?
Jens - January 15, 2012
Yep
Simon Zahner is still in the front. So, yeah.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
yes
gravel road - January 15, 2012
That sounds rude
straw dog - January 15, 2012
Do they even get off their bikes?
The steps, yes, but otherwise?
Damn, it’s not cross!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
No, never
Bah-face. Let’s get rid off this one and bring back Roubaix!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
+ 1
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
But you are.
majope - January 15, 2012
well played!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
One thing never changes:
Dutchies playing no role whatsoever.
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
JPow in his new national champs jersey
gravel road - January 15, 2012
Hi guys
Where’s K-Pow?
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
in front
geert - January 15, 2012
Oh
that’s not Zauner? I thought the all white was the UCI kit
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
UCI white
lead the whole race
straw dog - January 15, 2012
At the front, in his white leaders kit
together with SImunek and Stybar
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
chase group with Albert
gravel road - January 15, 2012
oops, nevermind my coffee-starved observations
gravel road - January 15, 2012
we know you are just testing us
paisley - January 15, 2012
glued to a wheel near the front
Jens - January 15, 2012
Gluing his wheel?
Wow, he has plenty of time.
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
Albert hulkage
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
That pink bike still looks odd
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I like the contrast with the white worlds kit
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Wuyt's doesn't agree.
Ziet er lekker uit.
blackswangreen - January 15, 2012
I like it.
majope - January 15, 2012
pepto bismol anyone?
pablo777 - January 15, 2012
Shit they are going really fast...!
avrg speed anyone?
pablo777 - January 15, 2012
28,7km/h last lap
broerie - January 15, 2012
way too fast!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
It's super-fast!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Slower than I thought
Pretty hard course, if not very selective.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
muchos corners
broerie - January 15, 2012
No kermit-green in this race = yay!!!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Sven VT is in kermit green
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Yes, but nowhere near the camera!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Where's Nys, & what happened?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
In the chase group with Albert, Vantornout et al.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
at 22 sec
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
bedankt
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
no sandpit
= sulking, not hulking
straw dog - January 15, 2012
har
ELVISGOAT - January 15, 2012
hoho
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
5th position in chasing group
just a fast race, nothing for old men
broerie - January 15, 2012
Wish they'd give the World Cup leader a different colour
so it didn’t look so similar to World Champs…
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
+1
paisley - January 15, 2012
mud-coloured seems fitting
Jens - January 15, 2012
and perhaps soon we could have a couple of castrated Bretagne - Schuller riders
in the field for complete confusion.
Uphill - January 15, 2012
"Albert is aan 't sakkeren, aan het miljaren"
Albert is cussing and cursing again :D
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Remove that smiley face :(
Albertina - January 16, 2012
at least with Nys in the casing group they are showing more that the front three this time
paisley - January 15, 2012
DNF Tommeke Meeusen :(
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Oh, is he ok?
He seemed to genuinely get hit by that horrible stomach virus over Xmas – hope he’s up in time for Worlds….
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
"No legs, I think my back is blocked"
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
What does a back block mean?
Is it like a muscle pull, or something else? I saw the phrase re Sven Nys last week (hmmm, Sven’s back & Niels’ pneumonia…)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
No idea
but a physio can make it go away.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
Zero power from the back
Nys’ one sounded more like some lumbago (lombalia?)
broerie - January 15, 2012
“Bad legs, blockage in my back. This isn’t good, I never felt well. DNF was the smart thing to do. Now I’m afraid for my world cup selection, this isn’t good. Every year there’s a French world cup race, and they’re always very fast, but this is nothing for me”
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Come on Sven and Niels, hulk it together!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Apparently the sandpit had to be removed because it was in a corner
So I guess that rule “no man-made obstacles” is gone, yes.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
I gather
Nys refuses to win these dull grassy crits on principle?
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
As well he should.
ELVISGOAT - January 15, 2012
Indeed
this ain’t cx!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Looks like what passes for cx over here.
ELVISGOAT - January 15, 2012
So this is what next year's world will be like?
Bah-age!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Well, I'm in NC
and all Ive ever seen are grass crit courses here.
ELVISGOAT - January 15, 2012
The only reasonable thing to do
is to take out your rage on Drew.
Jens - January 15, 2012
where does it do for 2014?
Hopefully somewhere really insane, to make up for it?
I quite fancy seeing what a Swedish snow-and-ice course would be like!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012

TheFigurehead - January 15, 2012
Ha
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
21 secs
gravel road - January 15, 2012
In 2 weeks time I'll be at the Worlds!
With Albertina & Urlaub – & gs & Broerie? & 20,000 Belgians!
I want to take a banner, so you can see us!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
please do!
paisley - January 15, 2012
+a million!
majope - January 15, 2012
And his royal highness
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
broerie - January 15, 2012
I hear MORANS guy
is available for rent. He comes with signs appropriate for the occasion.
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
Get a truck! Morans
?
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
they already presold 30000 tickets + 3000 vip tickets
geert - January 15, 2012
Hmm. Should I get one in VVK you think?
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
buur bought one
31 euro but travel by train and bus included
geert - January 15, 2012
Yeah, 25 for just the ticket
I get to ride the train and bus for free anyway
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
65+?
;)
broerie - January 15, 2012
Yes
my poor old bones
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
wtf srsly
Pauwels from one extreme to another
He’s been leading the front group without a break since the first lap
and on a course where drafting must be factor, no?
straw dog - January 15, 2012
ok Stybs finally takes a turn
straw dog - January 15, 2012
Fast and non-technical
= made for K-Pow
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
for sure
I was just questioning his tactics
straw dog - January 15, 2012
he just wants to keep Nys away
singhstax - January 15, 2012
I thought the guy in front with white leg warmers was Stybar.
GreylockGrinder - January 15, 2012
Styby = pink bike
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
and Stybs has leg-warmers, pauwels doesn't
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Stybar = white + rainbows, leg warmers and pink bike
Pauwels = white, no rainbows, no leg warmers
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
If he finishes on the podium, the World Cup GC is hs
he doesn’t want this race, he wants the points
broerie - January 15, 2012
ah ok
now I understand
thanks
straw dog - January 15, 2012
Next week's race is also good for him too, isn't it?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Yeah, but why wait if you can secure the win today
broerie - January 15, 2012
Indeed
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
where are we next week?
the cx calendar has disappeared from the featured stories :o
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I know, I mourn it about 4 times a week
aren’t we in the Netherlands next week?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Wait, Hoogerheide?
Bah.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
yes, you say
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
yup
broerie - January 15, 2012
Bit of a Van der Poel course
but way more “Belgian” than here today.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
and Styby wants to actually win something
given it’s his last full CX season, & after his great start, he’s been invisible/damaged/randomly bad
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
selection within the chase group
gravel road - January 15, 2012
Lars done for the year??
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
Boom boom?
Yeah, I think he has his eyes on the road from now
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Figures
What with the road season starting tomorrow. Or yesterday. Or whatever.
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
Australian times are confusing
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
28 seconds
gravel road - January 15, 2012
This is NOT RIGHT
two guys in pure white unsullied kits leading a cross race?
straw dog - January 15, 2012
It's like anti-cross.
majope - January 15, 2012
Like cats laying down with dogs!
ELVISGOAT - January 15, 2012
I will pretend that the kits are black
and it’s snowing
straw dog - January 15, 2012
So sad we didn't get any snow and ice races this season
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I know, bah to global warming
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Hehe, KPow's mechanic answering with 'woah' too
broerie - January 15, 2012
team trademark?
paisley - January 15, 2012
I prefer Styby's pink hats...
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Bah this one doesn't look like CX...!
I am going for a ride…. (indoors) Freaking cold here… Have fun guys…! This is too clean for my poor CX taste.
pablo777 - January 15, 2012
have a good ride Pablo!
gravel road - January 15, 2012
You know it's bad when an indoor ride is preferable to a race.
majope - January 15, 2012
Ok will watch to the end but no more comments?
pablo777 - January 15, 2012
Hey, do we know anything about Bartje Aernouts' team?
If he was swapping, would he have done so on 1st Jan, or at start of next season?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
good question
I think his contract starts/end on another date
broerie - January 15, 2012
And how is Bartje Wellens doing?
Is he out of hospital yet?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Yup
went home Friday.
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
Phew
Do we know more about what caused it yet?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Haven't seen
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
what is the make-up of the chase group (beyond Albert & Nys)?
paisley - January 15, 2012
Klaas VT, Peeters, Thijs van Amerongen I think…
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
the Gorilla could have won here.
singhstax - January 15, 2012
I always wondered what grass-course races were
Vicky Pendleton started off riding them…. now I know
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
He was strong in the Boonen Invitational
easy win here.
Uphill - January 15, 2012
Surprisingly strong even
I invite you all to join me there next year :D
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Oh, tempting....
VirtKitty - January 15, 2012
Come on over!
It’s heaps of fun
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
stybar hulking
gravel road - January 15, 2012
by accident :D
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
good move
singhstax - January 15, 2012
oohlalalalala
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
They might drop Dieter VT here
broerie - January 15, 2012
Simunek
grrr
broerie - January 15, 2012
anybody seen Jeremy Powers?
gravel road - January 15, 2012
Well
could be an exciting finish between these two.
There will be some serious handlebar-pounding from Stybar if he loses in a sprint.
straw dog - January 15, 2012
Funny that Styby's best race in months
is the least CX-like race! He really is getting ready to turn to the road full-time!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Sven Nys giving up?
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
sure looks like it
gravel road - January 15, 2012
Interview with his DS
- He’s losing the world cup here?"
° Oh, could be yeah.
Very “whatever” about not winning the world cup
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Hasn't he won it 150 times already?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
"only" seven
Proper relaxing in Hoogerheide next week now, and then become world champ
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I'm guessing His Svennys doesn't need to worry about Worlds selection...
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
snort
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
does not have 'corporation' in his group
singhstax - January 15, 2012
Chasers
KVT and DVT
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
easy to spot Ryan Trebon
tallest racer
gravel road - January 15, 2012
tedvdw - January 15, 2012

tedvdw - January 15, 2012

paisley - January 15, 2012
wow!
broerie - January 15, 2012
whoa
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Anyone know what time CET the TDU ends?
I’m guessing some hideous time of the morning….
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(I mean, the end of the stages, not the end of the race)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I would like to know this also
but there’s no race tonight, right?
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Oh, really?
There’s a gap between the Crit & the race proper?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I think there is, yes
but we may need an Aussie to verify this
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
yes, 1 day gap.
Uphill - January 15, 2012
Styby looks much more comfortable on the stairs than Pauwels
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
he's very good at that
broerie - January 15, 2012
Stybs is a great runner
no one does stairs better than Stybar
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
its fucking dificult sucking on a wheel while running.
Uphill - January 15, 2012
SVT mechanical, out of the race?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
crashed
geert - January 15, 2012
Damn, hope he's not hurt
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(crashes are so much less fun when it's not onto a foot of squashy, comfortable mud!)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Crash for Sven VT!
Looks like he’s in pain
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Simunek's down well - can he catch Styby & Pauwels?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
done well, gah!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I was just thinking that.
If they start messing around ahead of a sprint…
straw dog - January 15, 2012
(hopes)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Sprint predictions?
Who da fastest? Who’ll pull a dirty trick?
broerie - January 15, 2012
Difficult to say, If Styby plays his cards right, he should win this IMO
broerie - January 15, 2012
Well then,
stop asking yourself such difficult questions.
straw dog - January 15, 2012
I like to challenge myself
broerie - January 15, 2012
Pauwels
Not Styby’s year.
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
pink bikes
singhstax - January 15, 2012
Simunek = dirty tricks personified
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
Final straight seems quite long
So starting the sprint from 2nd position is possible
broerie - January 15, 2012
Pauwels likes that, doesn't he?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(actually not being sarcastic there!
but it seems his preferred sprint style)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Stybar seems a little stronger on the climbs
and there is a
Ah well never mind.
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
:)
broerie - January 15, 2012
Via Lyne's twitter
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
oh no!
paisley - January 15, 2012
crap, tough year for Johnson
gravel road - January 15, 2012
What, a whole other lap to go?
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
I know!
Funny seeing Nys leading his group over the line – he should really just be sitting back
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
he can't do it any other way.
Champion.
Uphill - January 15, 2012
ding ding ding ding!!
Please make it stop.
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
Pauwels has mooie beentjes
(nice little legs)
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
So how do you say nice big legs?
majope - January 15, 2012
mooie grote benen
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Neutral: mooie benen
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
For some reason I think it should be mooie boonen.
majope - January 15, 2012
That's "nice ears"
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
In my region:
“schuune puuten”
broerie - January 15, 2012
schoen bejnen
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Laatste ronde
I’m guessing Styby should try to attack somewhere round, but can’t think where – he needs some tough technical section to go on
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
If I were him, I'd wheelsuck the entire lap and try to beat him in the sprint (from 2nd position)
broerie - January 15, 2012
nevermind
broerie - January 15, 2012
that
is one bored looking chase group. Also, what’s with the English graphics on Sporza??
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
World Cup = UCI race = Engerlish
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Worldcup race + the Grench are doing the filming and writing the on-screen text
broerie - January 15, 2012
G is the new F
broerie - January 15, 2012
Gucking ridiculous.
majope - January 15, 2012
hehe
who was girst?
Uphill - January 15, 2012
Guck y'all
broerie - January 15, 2012
Regresh and you'll see.
majope - January 15, 2012

Uphill - January 15, 2012
damned grogs
Uphill - January 15, 2012
Wereldbeker
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
useful!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Soooo, seven world champs men for Belgium?
Nys
Albert
Pauwels
KVT
Peeters
…
and then I’d take Meeusen and Aernouts I think.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
If Meeusen is well enough....
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Alternatives are
Sven VT – also not good enough
Dieter VT – meh
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
You really are a subconscious girl aren't you? You read the selectors' minds!
Albertina - January 16, 2012
PAUWELS CRASH!!!
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
blerg
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
Nicely done by Stybs actually

We were talking earlier how Styby is better on the steps
Styby’s accelerating like a lunatic!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
good lad
great win!
singhstax - January 15, 2012
Fortunate
to fall on himself, not his bike
or his second might be gone too

geert - January 15, 2012
Oh well
he’ll gain points on Nys, his closest chaser for the ugly kit
Chris Fontecchio - January 15, 2012
Oh, the world cup is his
I have no doubt
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Hmm, never midn
Nys fourth. That’s good.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Nys back in the sexiest kit going
thank goodness
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Blimey, the race livens up!
Love watching Styby turn it on – he’s not an elegant rider, but damn, it looks effective!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Aw, he's so happy :)
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Specialised will love that kiss
broerie - January 15, 2012
I'm still not buying
a pink bike
straw dog - January 15, 2012
Pink bike wins!
majope - January 15, 2012
that's a lot of bike love right there
paisley - January 15, 2012
Get a room!
broerie - January 15, 2012
Simunek on a WC podium?
asjemenou!
broerie - January 15, 2012
Nys comes in in 4th
Seemed to have intimidated everyone else so they couldn’t sprint against him
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Powers 14th, Page 17th, USA fans
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Trebon 22nd
paisley - January 15, 2012
and Huele 20, Driscoll 31 (I think)
I know Huele is not American but he is a Cannonondale guy
paisley - January 15, 2012
So was Pauwels' fall an avoidable mistake on his part?
or couldn’t he have helped it?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
trying to follow Stybar's speed going into the stairs
paisley - January 15, 2012
I think his toes slipped from the first step
It all goes so fast and then you’re getting a bit tired, you easily make mistakes
broerie - January 15, 2012
I can imagine
I’ve no idea how they can make it through the hour without them all falling down
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Fifteen minute summary of the women's race!

tedvdw - January 15, 2012
Thankyou!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(is it ok to tweet it?)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Ja :)
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
bedankt!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Vos
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
hmmmm.
where have I seen that before?
Uphill - January 15, 2012
Yay!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Nys
“A little disappointing. I missed by start cause I picked the wrong tyres. I changed my wheels and I got stuck around 20-25s but if they really race hard in the front you can’t catch up. At the end I got fourth cause I was best in that chase group. I went hard for one lap and I didn’t get any closer, so I stuck with the chase group. No one in that group was good enough to help me. I missed my start and that was my own fault. The World Cup isn’t gone yet, and I’m not giving up.”
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Dieter VT
“World cup selections… I leave that to the coach. I did ok, but in the end I made to many mistakes cause I had the wrong tyres. I needed Rhinos in the end. I gambled, but… Well, overall I’m content.”
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Stybar
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
Haha, lovely!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
If I had a pink bike, I'd do that too.
majope - January 15, 2012
Styby fans
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
Ha, maybe i should make Albertina bring one of those to Koksijde?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Stybs and OPQS have asked all Stybar fans
to wear pink hats
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
But I was hoping Albertin would wear the marmottes!
Maybe she can dye them pink?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I'm sure any competent furrier can help.
majope - January 15, 2012
Oh! I need to go shopping!!
Albertina - January 16, 2012
Nice :)
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Lots of little Nys-ettes today!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I'll be damned
if this is not Nys junior. Same position on the bike!
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
+1
gravel road - January 15, 2012
They film him often
every race almost. Go Thibau!

tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Ha!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(Now I'm imagining Albert trying to jump over a line of his girlfriends....)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
haha
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
It would be like this, but with blondes
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
haha
broerie - January 15, 2012
Baaahahahaha
Albertina - January 16, 2012
cool!
broerie - January 15, 2012
Who is th bigger one Thibault rides with?
I’m assuming it’s Nys junior too, they always show a mini-Nys in proper kit, hitting some hard part of the course after the race is over
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
(although I'm surprised they haven't got him the tricolor already!)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
I think Nys has only one child
and actually the bigger kid might be Tibs. It’s been a few years, hasn’t it?
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
He only has one yes
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
There Can Be Only One
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
Don't try to keep up Rob
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
This looks like a scene fro Parsifal. Can Sven sing tenor?
Albertina - January 16, 2012
That's what I keep wondering
because he can’t be an adorable 6-year-old forever!
aw, check out his cute bike: http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/photos/mud-machines-close-out-the-season/13061
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
HELL YEAH
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Can some lovely Dutch-speaker google for Nys jnr in Dutch & find his real age, pretty please?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
9 now
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Thanks
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Part of me hopes he'll follow in papa's biketreads
part of me thinks what pressure to be Sven Nys’ son!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Easier after I found the right way to spell his name: Thibau
tedvdw - January 15, 2012
Ah, thankyou!
I was confused, spelling it Thibault & Thibaux! (not sure if either of those are real names!)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Thibault is the 'normal spelling'
Thibaux, not quite.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Peeters
“Today I checked out the others, especially Bart Aernouts and Sven VT, but something must’ve happened to them and they fell back. So I was safe compared to them. But then I got stuck in a big group and if you got knocked back some it was hard to keep up, but I did well I think. I don’t think the coach expected me to win here, and I still had something left in the end, so…”
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Peeters for World Champs, I think
well deserved too
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
yes, incontournable
broerie - January 15, 2012
So, Pauwels has the World Cup sewn up?
What would have to happen for Nys to win? (apart from Pauwels dnf?)
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Only a 20pt lead actually
it ain’t over yet, but he’s definitely in pole position
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
It's 15 points between 1st & 2nd, right?
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
straw dog - January 15, 2012
Fientje :D
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Ha
Dutch language interviewer interviewing a Czech in English. They probably both wish this was in Dutch :)
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
My feed died!
wish I could see it, Styby has a great accent
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Dutch now
broerie - January 15, 2012
or do you understand that too?
broerie - January 15, 2012
Uhoh, missed it
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
His accent is great in Dutch too
Noe iek weit iek ben klaar voor die weireldkampioenschap
broerie - January 15, 2012
Too cute :)
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
He sounds adorable in any foreign language. In Czech he sounds terribly manly ;-)
Albertina - January 16, 2012
Sporza still working but geo-restricted
Invest in a VPN if you don’t have one already
straw dog - January 15, 2012
to be fair, since I went to Mac, my feeds have been really good this year
I think sports-livez just turned it off early today
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
If you decide to try,
I can recommend Overplay. I use a Mac, seamless interface. From the U.S., service has been excellent to all of Europe. I think it’s a U.K.-based company, so I assume they will be equally good from there. Definitely worth paying the small amount for a non-free service.
And yes, I’m deliberately trying to hide this in a comment at the end of a CX race, or 1000 PdCers might overload their Belgian servers in a couple of months….
straw dog - January 15, 2012
ha! Thanks!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Almost 600 comments for a CX race
We can do this! (50 to go)
broerie - January 15, 2012
And for a really dull one too
or maybe that’s why there’s so many comments :)
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
To be honest,
this was a day when PdC was far more entertaining than the race.
straw dog - January 15, 2012
Heh, PdC is the only thing that makes me watch the GT sprint stages!
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Yes, very :)
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Amy Dombroski's twitter
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
5th row?
that seems a bit odd?
broerie - January 15, 2012
In his interview he said he was fifth row after the start
so, he just Alberted the first bit of the race
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Makes a lot more sense
thought he couldn’t be gridded that far back
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Huh, he did have to start from the fifth row
cause he was late to the start. So, his own damn fault.
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
Oh, tsk tsk tsk
Wait, maybe we should make him late to the start every race if this is the outcome.
VirtKitty - January 15, 2012
Bart Aernouts to hospital. Right forearm hit. #stitches
tgsgirl - January 15, 2012
:(
he’s going through a difficult period
broerie - January 15, 2012
Bad, bad timing
Poor Bartje
Sarah Connolly - January 15, 2012
Do you like my new avatar? :)
Albertina - January 16, 2012
No
(yes)
tgsgirl - January 16, 2012
love it!
